The LORD had told Joseph Smith the following about the coming of the Son of Man:
48 And the Lord shall be red in his apparel and his garments like him that treadeth in the wine-vat." (D&C 133: 48)
22 And again, verily I say unto you, that the Son of Man cometh not in the form of a woman, neither of a man travelling on the earth." (D&C 49:22)
1 When the Savior shall appear we shall see him as he is; as a man like ourselves." (D&C 130:1)
Mormons in 1891, believed that meant when Jesus returned, with His heavenly armies, He would be wearing red robes and be traveling around on the clouds of the sky like this:
In 1891, Mormons believed that the Saviour would return with heavenly armies, traveling on the clouds of the sky, wearing red robes, with a sword smiting the wicked, looking like a man but not being subject to death, or cold, or hunger, or pain, or sleep!
And (as we shall soon see), Mormons expected this return in the year 1891 as Joseph Smith had prophesied!
Emmanuel came to Salt Lake City in 1891. Emmanuel had no heavenly armies with him. He was a "man like unto ourselves" (subject to death/pain/cold/heat/hunger/sleep). He wore red "apparel", and his "garments" (body hair) was also red. He did not travel on a cloud, but by train. A train does not travel "on the earth" but on rails.
