In the Book of Mormon, in the first book of Nephi ("nee-fai"), the prophet Lehi ("lee-high") has a dream or vision. In the dream he sees a "great and spacious building". There are "multitudes" inside and on the great and spacious building, and they are in the act of mocking. They are mocking a small group of people, who are holding onto a rod of iron next to a river. The rod of iron leads to a tree, and hanging on the tree are precious fruit.
Mormons interpret the dream-vision as follows:
*The Great and Spacious Building is the non-mormon World.
*The Tree is the Tree of Life, which is Jesus Christ, and the fruit are His words which obeyed lead to Eternal Life.
*The Rod of Iron is the Word of the LORD, as revealved in the Bible, Book of Mormon, Pearl of Great Price, and Doctrine & Covenants, but especially the "Word of the Lord" as it is revealed by "Living Prophets"; by Church leaders during General Conference. One "grasps" the Rod of Iron by listening to and especially "obeying" Church leaders (i.e. "The Brethren"). Their "words" leads one to the Tree (Jesus).
In February of 1891, Emmanuel came to Utah, dressed in red robes; traveling on a train. He had no heavenly armies in tow. No chorus of angels were blowing trumpets. He was not riding upon the clouds, but upon rails. He had formed an Order of Enoch in Jackson County, Missouri, and gathered a few of the members of the Reorganized Church (those who followed Joseph Smith III to Jackson County Missouri instead of Brigham Young to Utah).
He approached the Salt Lake Temple, at the East Door, but was told he could not enter! The tried several others times, but the workmen would mock and ridicule him.
He tries to speak on the street corners, but police force him to keep moving. He then preaches under a tree, on the west side of the Jordan River, due West from the Salt Lake Temple. On the east side of the tree is a steep embankment; which must be climbed by anyone coming from the city to hear him speak. He builds a hand-rail, made of iron, to the tree; all the time the workmen working on the Temple are mocking him and the few who come to hear him.
In April, Emmanuel takes a train to Milford Utah, then a carriage to St. George; where there is a temple in working order. He goes to the Temple and tries to enter, but guards prevent him, and he is treated badly; mocked ridiculed. The next morning he climbs a butte overlooking St. George, and cries: "Father, they don't know what they are doing! They are the blind following the blind, and both will fall into Hell! O Father, please awake them from their slumber!"
At that moment an earthquake occurs, and the residents of St. George flee their homes into the streets; fearing the end of the world.
Emmanuel travels back to Salt Lake City, and continues to preach under the tree next to the Jordan River; in a place now called Constitution Park; on the west side of the river. He gathers a very small following, and then he and his small flock vanish.
But, before Emmanuel and his small flock vanish, he publishes a book titled The Voice of the Seventh Angel which contain his teachings.
He teaches his little flock the following:
I. Brigham Young was chosen to lead them to Utah, but he has taught false doctrines and led the Saints astray. He sinned in appointing himself the Prophet in 1847, without a Revelation from the Lord.Emmanuel made very few converts among the Mormons! Only a few of the Morrisites who had remained in Utah became his disciples; members of the Order of Enoch.II. Negroes are not cursed nor the children of Cain as Brigham Young has taught them. They should be allowed inside the Temples and the priesthood.
III. The Lost Tribes are not living at the North Pole (Note: Mormon leaders taught at the time that the lost tribes were living at the north pole)
IV. The Baby Resurrection (reincarnation) is NOT a doctrine of the devil, but a true doctrine.
V. Joseph Smith sinned in regards to polygamy, and this is why the Lord allowed men to kill him in 1844.
VI. Joseph Morris was a true Prophet of God, and died a martyr.
VII. He (Emmanuel) was Jesus reincarnated, and He would come again in the year 1912; born in Jerusalem
Then a very strange cloud was seen over Salt Lake City, and Emmanuel, and his small flock of followers vanished, and they, and he, were forgotten about by the Mormons of Utah.
The 1891 prophecies of Joseph Smith were explained-away as "true" but "unfufilled" because the Saints "weren't ready" and thus the LORD delayed His coming.
The expectation among Mormon leaders that the Son of Man would return in 1891, has been forgotten by all but a few Mormon historians. Mormon history books never mention it. And "Emmanuel" has not even been given a footnote in Mormon history.
Let's take a brief look at all {{{7}}} of Emmanuel's teachings.
