Joseph Smith (photograph) prophesied of the coming of the Son of Man would appear in the year 1891. HE DID! But not as Mormon expected. Read on!

In 1891, a man claiming to be the reincarnation of Jesus Christ came to Salt Lake City, Utah, and established the Order of Enoch. He wore red apparel. He preached under a tree, on the west bank of the Jordan River, due west of the Salt Lake Temple. He built a hand-rail made of a rod of iron so that people could climb the embankment to hear him preach. He published a book titled The Voice of the Seventh Angel. Then he and his few disciples vanished. This is his story.

The Prophet Joseph Smith prophesied on two different occassions that the Son of Man would come in the year 1891. On February 14th, 1835, Joseph Smith prophesied:
"President Smith then stated that the meeting had been called, because God had commanded it; and it was made known to him by vision and by the Holy Spirit....and it was the will of God that those who went to Zion, with a determination to lay down their lives, if necessary, should be ordained to the ministry, and go forth to prune the vineyard for the last time, or the coming of the Lord, which was nigh even fiftysix years should wind up the scene." (History of the Church 2:182
On April 6th, 1843, Joseph Smith wrote in his journal the following prophecy:
"There are those of the rising generation who shall not taste death until Christ comes. I was once praying earnestly upon the subject, and a Voice said unto me, My son, if thou livest until thou art 85 years of age, thou shalt see the Face of the Son of Man. I was left to draw my own conclusions concerning this and took the liberty to conclude that if I did live till that time He would make His appearance or I shall go where He is. I prophesy in the name of the Lord God and let it be written, that the Son of Man will not come in the heavens till I am 85 years old, 48 years from now or about 1890." (Diary of Joseph Smith, April 6, 1843)
If you take his 1835 prophecy and add "56 years" to 1835 you come to 1891.

If you take his 1843 prophecy and add "48 years from now" to 1843 you come to 1891.

What happened in 1891?

According to the Mormon Church today: nothing!

According to us~ the Order of Enoch: Jesus came to Salt Lake City; just as the 1835 and 1843 prophecies of Joseph Smith foretold!

In that year, a man came to Salt Lake City, claiming to be the reincarnation of Jesus Christ! He performed miracles, and gathered a few followers into an Order of Enoch. Then a cloud came and he and his followers vanished.

But, did not Joseph Smith say that reincarnation was "a doctrine of the Devil"?

He did not! Never did!

According to Eliza R. Snow, a plural wife of Joseph Smith, and Joseph Lee Robinson, a close friend of his, Joseph taught them the doctrine of the Baby Resurrection; that we are "resurrected" in the wombs of new mothers (Journal of Joseph Lee Robinson, p.12).

The Baby Resurrection (reincarnation) was believed and taught by Mormon apostles Orson Hyde, Lorenzo Snow, and Heber C. Kimball, who once said in General Conference:

"We have come here to become inured in work to build temples, and improve upon the elements that God has placed around us, that we may become more skillful tomorrow, through the experience of today. What I do not today, when the sun goes down, I lay down to sleep, which is typical of death; and in the morning I rise and commence my work where I left it yesterday. That course is typical of the probations we take. But suppose that I do not improve my time today, I wake up tomorrow and find myself in the rear; and then, if I do not improve upon that day, and again lay down to sleep, on awaking, I find myself still in the rear. This day's work is typical of this probation, and the sleep of every night is typical of death, and the rising in the morning is typical of the resurrection. They are days labours, and it is for us to be faithful today, tomorrow, and every day." (Journal of Discourses 4:329)

Heber C. Kimball

Joseph Smith once met a man named Robert Matthews, who called himself "Joshua the Jewish Minister" and "Joseph Matthias". Matthews claimed that he the reincarnation of Matthias the Apostle, and that one's soul/spirit passes from father to son. Joseph wrote in his journal:

“He said that he possessed the spirit of his fathers, that he was a literal descendant of Matthias, the Apostle, who was chosen in the place of Judas that fell; that his spirit was resurrected in him; and that this was the way or scheme of eternal life—this transmigration of soul or spirit from father to son.
I told him that his doctrine was of the devil, that he was in reality in possession of a wicked and depraved spirit, although he professed to be the Spirit of truth itself; and he said also that he possessed the soul of Christ." (Joseph Smith, History of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 7 Vols. 2:307)
Joseph Smith was not condemning reincarnation, but "his doctrine" (i.e. the doctrine of Robert Matthias) that soul transmigrated from father to son. That is not what reincarnation teaches! Robert Matthews (who also went by the name "Joshua the Jewish Minister" and "Joseph Matthias") taught:

*He had the soul of Christ in him.
*The soul/spirit transmigrated from father to son.
*He was the reincarnation of the Apostle Matthias; a descendant of his.

Joseph Smith declared that "his doctrine" (the things Matthews was teaching) were "doctrines of the Devil" because:

*Matthews did not have the soul of Christ in him.
*The soul/spirit did not pass from father to son.
*Matthews was not the reincarnation of the Apostle Matthias (nor was Matthias his ancestor).

Joseph Smith was not repudiating the doctrine of Multiple Mortal Probations (reincarnation). He was repudiating the doctrines of Robert Matthews!

In the year 1891, the very year that Joseph Smith prophesied that the Son of Man would appear, a man appeared in Salt Lake City; claiming to be the reincarnation of Jesus Christ.

Who was he? What did he teach?
