DOCTOR DAHESH (1912-1984) was the miracle-working Prophet of Lebanon. He is quite well-known in Lebanon and throughout the Middle-East. However, he is almost completely unknown in the West. He was born in 1912, in Jerusalem, as Saleem Ameer Moosa El-Achi ("Prince of Peace Moses The Brother"). His mother was Shmooneh El-Achi, and his father Moosa El-Achi of the Aleshiya ("Elisha") family of Mosul, Iraq. The Aleshiya clan claimed descent from the prophets Elisha and Elijah. They were brought to Assyria about 600 B.C., as Jewish slaves. They converted to Christianity soon after Jesus came, and remained Assyrians (Iraqi Christians) ever since. In 1910, Halley's Comet came very close to the earth, so close that the earth passed through the tail of the comet. Some considered it the end of the world. Others considered the comet the harbinger of the Second Coming. An Angel of the LORD appeared to Moosa and told him that he would have a son who would be a Prophet and a Sign unto the nations, and to name his son "Prince of Peace". The Angel instructed Moosa to travel to al-Quds (Jerusalem) with his wife. This was done, and Saleem Ameer was born in 1912. Young Saleem was able to perform supernatural miracles and eventually became the most prolific worker of supernatural miracles of all time. By the age of 17 (1929) he became known as "Dahesh" (Assyrian: "Wonderful"). He later became known as "Duktur Dahesh" (Assyrian: "Wonderful Counselor") which became "Doctor Dahesh" in English. But he was not a medical doctor. He had no degrees of any kind. Yet, he healed thousands. He formed his own religion in 1942 called Daheshism which he called "The Unity of the Religions of God" and the "Noble Spiritual Faith". He died in 1984 in New York City. His followers are called Daheshists (about 2,000 worldwide).
Doctor Dahesh performed thousands of supernatural miracles, wrote 150 books (poems, prose, social commentaries, parables, and five Books of Revelation), and uttered hundreds of general and personal prophecies. Charles Fillmore, the co-founder of the Unity School of Practical Christianity, wrote in 1912:
"Something is happening. All along the line is evidence of the birth of the Prince of Peace." (Talks on Truth 11:4)
"Saleem Ameer" means "Prince of Peace". He was born in 1912. Some Daheshists believe that Charles Fillmore was inspired to "prepare the way" for Daheshism in America. UNITY does not endorse Doctor Dahesh nor Daheshism, but has invited Daheshists to worship in UNITY churches.
